Transportation Strike for Tuesday January 31, 2023 for Paris and Île de France region

All the information on the transportation strike for Tuesday, January 31, 2023 for Paris and Île de France region. If you are needing to travel within Paris and the Île de France region today, please plan accordingly. Check timetables before you leave and make arrangements to ensure a safe route. 

METRO: 

Metro 1 and 14: normal traffic with risk of extremely busy. Due to the work related to the extension, metro line 14 will close at 10 pm. The following stations will only be open during rush hour (7:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:30 – 7:30 PM) Reuilly-Diderot, Bastille, Champs Elysées – Clémenceau. The station Hôtel de Ville will only be open during morning rush hour (7:30 – 9:30 AM).

Metro 4: 1 train out of 2 during rush hour and 1 train out of 4 during off-peak times with a risk of being busier than usual. The following stations will be closed all day: Simplon, Strasbourg – Saint Denis, Réaumur-Sébastopol, Cité, Montparnasse-Bienvenüe, Alésia.

Metro 2: service will only run from 5:30 AM – 8:00 PM with 1 train out of 2. The following stations are only during rush hour: Stalingrad & Villiers.

Metro 12: 1 train our of 3 during rush hour and 1 train out of 4 during off-peak hours, with service running from 5:30 AM – 8:00 PM. The following stations are closed: Pasteur, Montparnasse-Bienvenüe.

The following lines are open/running only during rush hour (7:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:30 – 7:30 PM), unless otherwise indicated.

Metro 5: 1 train out of 3 from 6:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:30 – 7:30 PM. The following stations will be closed: Hoche, Laumière, République, Richard Lenoir, Campo Formio.

Metro 7: 1 train out of 3 from 6:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:00 – 7:30 PM. The following stations are closed: Château-Landon, Cadet, Opéra, Tolbiac.

Metro 7bis: 1 train out of 3 from 6:30 – 9:30 AM and 4 – 7:30 PM.

Metro 9: 1 train out of 2 from 6:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:30 – 7:30 PM. The following stations are closed: Trocadéro, Richelieu-Drouot, Grands Boulevards, Strasbourg – Saint-Denis, République.

Metro 10: 1 train out of 3 from 6:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:30 – 7:30 PM. The following stations are closed: La Motte-Picquet – Grenelle, Duroc.

The following metro lines are either partial open during rush hour (7:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:30 – 7:30 PM) or with slightly different hours.

Metro 3: 1 train out of 3 from 7:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:30 – 7:30 PM running only between Pont de Levallois-Bécon and Havre-Caumartin. The line is closed between Havre-Caumartin and Gallieni.

Metro 6: 1 train out of 3 from 6 – 10 AM and 4:30 – 7:30 PM running only between Nation and Denfert-Rochereau. The line is closed between Denfert-Rochereau and Charles de Gaulle-Etoile.

Metro 8: 1 train out of 3 from 7:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:30 – 7:30 PM running only between Créteil – Pointe du Lac and Reuilly-Diderot. The line is closed between Reuilly-Diderot and Balard.

Metro 11: 1 train out of 3 from 6:30 – 9:30 AM and 1 train out of 5 from 4:30 to 7:30 PM running only between Mairie des Lilas and Belleville. The line is closed between Belleville et Châtelet.

Metro 13: 1 train out of 3 running only between Saint-Denis – Université and Asnières-Gennevilliers – Les Courtilles and Invalides from 6:30 – 9:30 AM and between Saint-Denis – Université and Asnières-Gennevilliers – Les Courtilles and Champs Elysées – Clémenceau from 4:30 – 7:30 PM. The line is closed between Invalides and Châtillon – Montrouge.

Metro 3bis is closed the entire day.

RER on the RATP network: 

RER A: On average, 1 train out of 2 running during rush hour (7:30 to 9:30 AM and 4:30 to 7:30 PM) and 1 out of 4 train during off-peak hours (no change at Nanterre-Préfecture necessary). The first trains will leave between 5:10 and 5:40 AM. From 9 PM on, on average 1 train every 20 minutes on the central section and 1 train every 40 minutes on the branches. The train will pass through Châtelet-Les Halles will be around 12 AM. Between Nanterre – Préfecture and Cergy-le Haut / Poissy, expect a few trains until the end of the service (a train change will be necessary at Nanterre-Préfecture).

RER B: North of Châtelet – Les Halles, expect an average of 1 train out of 3 during rush hour (7:30 – 9:30 AM and 4:30 – 9:30 PM) and 1 train out of 2 during off-peak hours. Traffic will stop running at 10:45 PM for work scheduled on the line. South of Châtelet – Les Halles, expect 1 train out of 2 all day.

RER on the SNCF network:

RER C: On average 1 train out of 10. No train between Paris Austerlitz and Pontoise and between Paris Austerlitz and Versailles Château Rive Gauche all day. All trains running south of Paris, between Paris Austerlitz, Dourdan, Etampes, Massy and Versailles Chantiers via Juvisy originate/terminate at Paris Austerlitz Main Lines station. Expect 1 train per hour between 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM between Paris Austerlitz and Brétigny. Work buses will not be running.

RER D: On average 1 train out of 10. 4 trains per hour between Goussainville and Châtelet-les-Halles from 6 – 10 AM and 4 – 9 PM, 2 trains per hour betw een Paris gare de Lyon and Melun from 6 – 10 AM and 4 – 9 PM, 2 trains per hour between Paris gare de Lyon and Corbeil Essonnes via Evry Courcouronnes from 6 – 10 AM and 4 – 9 PM. No traffic running between Goussainville and Creil, Juvisy and Corbeil Essonnes via Ris Orangis, Corbeil and Malesherbes, and Corbeil and Melun. The interconnection is suspended between Gare de Lyon and Châtelet les Halles (no traffic between the two stations).

RER E: On average 1 train out of 10. Some trains run during rush hour between Meaux – Chelles – Gournay and Paris Gare de l’Est, Tournan and Paris Gare de l’Est with the following stations closed Haussmann Saint-Lazare, Magenta, Rosa Parks and Pantin. 1 train every 30 minutes between 5:30 – 10:00 AM and between 4:00 – 8:00 PM on the Villiers / Tournan route. 1 train every 30 minutes between 5:30 – 10:00 AM and between 5:00 – 9:30 PM on the Chelles / Meaux route.

BUS:

Bus network will be highly disrupted, with the circulation of certain lines being impacted by the demonstration that’s planned in Paris in the afternoon. On average, 8 out of 10 buses will be running on the network.

TRAM:

Normal traffic on the lines : T6 and T8 .
Almost normal traffic on the line : T3b .
Slightly disrupted traffic on T1, T2, T5, T7 (average of 4 out of 5 trams) and T3a (average of 3 out of 4 trams).

TRAIN: 

H: 1 train out of 4.

J: Between Paris Saint-Lazare and Conflans Sainte-Honorine 1 train out of 6 during rush hour and 1 train out of 4 during off-peak hours. Between Paris Saint-Lazare an Argenteuil 1 train out of 3 only during rush hour. Between Paris Saint-Lazare and Vernon 1 train out of 6 during rush hour and 1 train out of 4 during off-peak hours. No trains between Conflans Sainte-Honorine and Mantes la Jolie and between Argenteuil and Ermont Eaubonne.

K: 1 train out of 4.

L: Between Paris and Versailles Rive Droite / Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche, 1 train out of 3 in peak hours and 1 train out of 4 in off-peak hours. No circulation between Paris Saint-Lazare and Nanterre Université / Maisons Laffitte et Cergy le Haut.

N: 1 train out of 10 with no circulation between Plaisir-Grignon and Mantes-la-Jolie.

P: 1 train out of 10 with traffic normal between Esbly and Crécy-La-Chapelle. No traffic between Meaux and La Ferté-Milon, Paris East and Château-Thierry, Paris East and Provins, Paris East and Coulommiers.

R: 1 train out of 10 with no circulation between Melun and Montereau via Héricy.

U: 1 train out of 3.
