Welcome to the home of What The French?! Podcast, a podcast where we dive in to the unique and often unexpected experiences of life as an immigrant in France.

I’m Sarah and I’m your host of this podcast. I’m an American who moved to France for love but found myself quickly exclaiming “What the French?!” as I navigated the cultural quirks, administrative woes and everyday surprises of my new life in Paris. Now, I knew what I was getting myself into when I moved over here. This wasn’t my first rodeo.

Setting up life in another country is not always a piece of cake, there are many challenges and struggles that come along with it. There are also just as many victories and successes (if not more) as well ! I knew full well what I was getting myself into. Now, I count myself lucky because I moved over to Paris already a few steps ahead of the game: I had a friend group, I was fluent in the language, and I knew what I would be up against when it came to administrative tasks because I had lived here before.

What The French?! came to fruition one weekend when I realized that not many people who move to France realize the difficulties that come with it. I wanted to share to be able to spotlight and share the stories of others who’ve gone before and made the trek. I wanted to bring to the light the reality of moving to France and what that means and entails. Not everything you see or hear is like the curated social feeds of Parisian expat influencers.

So, if you are an expat, a Francophile, looking to make the big move, or just curious about what it’s like to live in France, this podcast offers an authentic and honest look into the immigrant experience. Join us for candid conversations, insightful stories, and plenty of laughs as we spill all the tea on what it truly means to call France home.

Hi! I'm Sarah and I'm the hostess of What the French?! Podcast. I also hold down the fort at @abuckeyeinparis , where I share all my tips & tricks about life as an American in France and whatnots about making the most out of Paris if you're coming to visit (I've also got a blog with way more information too)!

I figured it only appropriate that I introduce myself and give a little insight into why I started this podcast. This was an idea that had been floating around for a while and I finally pulled the trigger on it. We've all got a story to tell, especially when it comes to moving and setting up life in France. It's not always la vie en rose or champagne and cheese. The struggle can be real folks. And I wanted to showcase that. Social media has a funny way of only showing the perfect, curated moments of life abroad, but there's so much more to it. The struggle is real folks!

After some points from my husband, dad, and brother, I've successfully registered, cut, edited, and put together the first episode. It's not perfect, there are some blips, but it's not too shabby (nothing like learning another skill).

You can find the first episode at the link in the bio.

Happy listening! Et à bientôt ! 🎙️🇨🇵
