The End of an Era: Carnet T+ is being phased out of RATP services
There is no need to panic : Here's what you need to know.
From October 14, 2021, the RATP company will be phasing out slowly the ability to buy the cardboard T+ ticket booklets of 10. This is in an effort to move the metro ticket system completely paperless. It’s the end of an era. If you’ve ever been to Paris in the past and ridden the metro, you’ve most likely had to buy these little tickets that grant you one ride on the public transportation system. It’s a better deal if you bought booklets of 10.
Well, these cardboard booklets (carnets) are being slowly phased out starting next week through March 2022. This is a move by the RATP to go paperless. You can still buy single journey tickets in cardboard. You will still be able to use your cardboard ticket even after March 2022.
Works for the métro, bus and tram.
Must be uploaded onto a personalized Navigo pass. You can sign up here. It is rechargeable via the station terminal or the applications.
This service allows you to pay for your validations during a 30-day period. You only pay for what you’ve used at the end of each month. This is ideal for those who travel frequently, but not enough for the Navigo monthly pass. You do not need to load any tickets to your pass nor can you.
Works for the métro, bus and tram.
This pass can be purchased at any ticket window or RATP-approved vendor. The pass itself costs 2€, is valid for 10 years, and is rechargeable via the applications or at any station ticket stand.

You can purchase carnet t+ tickets, as well as individual tickets, Navigo day passes, Youth weekend passe, Orly and Roissy Bus passes and the antipollution pass (when applicable).
Tickets and passes can be purchased in many options:
- At the distributor in metro/train stations.
- At your local RATP service counter.
- Through RATP-approved vendors.
- On your smartphone :
- Île-de-France Mobilités
- Bonjour RATP
- Assistant SNCF applications (not valid for all smartphone)
October 14, 2021 : Carnet option will be removed from vending machines in 100 stations.
January 2022 : carnet option removed from 176 other stations.
March 2022 : carnet option will no longer be a available in vending machines or at ticket counters.
