Work With Me | A Buckeye in Paris

Who I Am

I’m Sarah Latrille, an American from Ohio who moved to France in March 2020, became a French citizen in 2024, and has been documenting the experience ever since. Through A Buckeye in Paris, I write practical guides for Americans navigating French bureaucracy and daily life: residency permits, healthcare, taxes, nationality, and everything in between.

I’ve completed the full immigration journey personally; from VLS-TS validation through OFII, titre de séjour renewals, the TCF IRN language exam, and French nationality by marriage and I hold dual French-American citizenship. My background is in hospitality and baking and pastry, and I’m also the founder of La Sororité Network, a community-building initiative for women in France.

I’m based in the Paris suburbs (Saint-Cloud) and have been living this story, not just writing about it, for seven years. That’s what makes the content on this site useful to the people who actually need it.

Press & Media

I’m available as a source, guest, or commentator on topics related to American expat life in France, French immigration and bureaucracy, navigating dual citizenship, healthcare in France, and life as an American raising a family abroad. I speak to both the practical and personal dimensions of this experience, the paperwork and the culture shock, the wins and the ongoing bewilderment.

If you’re working on a piece about expats in France, the 2026 immigration law changes, Americans navigating European healthcare, or related topics, I’m happy to respond to questions on deadline. I keep answers tight and attributable.

    Freelance Administrative Services

Beyond the blog, I run a freelance administrative practice aimed at two audiences: small food businesses in Paris and expats and immigrants navigating the French system. If you’re drowning in paperwork, confused about a process, or just need someone who can translate French bureaucracy into plain English and actually help you act on it, that’s what I do.

For small food businesses in Paris

French administrative requirements for small food businesses are dense and getting denser: facturation électronique (mandatory e-invoicing) comes into full effect in 2026, and most small operators still don’t know it applies to them even if they don’t charge TVA. I help cafes, restaurants, traiteurs, and independent food professionals understand what’s required, choose the right tools, and get their paperwork in order without losing a week to government websites.

Services include: e-invoicing reform guidance and platform selection, basic bookkeeping setup, compliance paperwork, and French administrative translation and navigation.

    For expats and immigrants

I help individuals and families understand the French administrative process, what documents you need, what the steps actually mean, what to do when something goes wrong. This is not legal advice; it’s the kind of informed, experienced guidance that helps you walk into your prefecture appointment knowing exactly what’s in your dossier and why.

Services include: dossier review and preparation support, guidance on residency and permit processes, help understanding French official correspondence, and general administrative navigation.

    Rates and availability

Services are priced based on scope. Initial consultations are available to discuss your situation before committing. To inquire, use the contact form on this site or send a message on Instagram at @abuckeyeinparis. I aim to respond within 48 hours.

    Collaborations & Guest Appearances

I’m open to podcast guest appearances, collaborative content, and partnerships that genuinely serve an audience of Americans and English speakers navigating life in France. I’m not looking for sponsorships that require me to endorse products I haven’t used or services I can’t personally stand behind.

What tends to work well: podcast interviews on expat life, French administration, or parenting across cultures; guest posts on complementary blogs with overlapping audiences; partnerships with services that expats actually need (banking, insurance, tax filing, international moves).

What doesn’t: generic travel content, untargeted product placements, or anything that would dilute the blog’s focus on practical guidance for Americans in France.

If you think there’s a fit, reach out via the contact form or Instagram with a brief description of what you have in mind. I’ll always reply, even if the answer is no.
