How to get from the airport to Paris: Taxis

If taking public transportation is not really your thing once you’ve landed into the City of Lights, taxis will be there for you. We will be discussing how to take a taxi from Roissy – Charles de Gaulle airport and Orly airport in this post. You can take a taxi to and from Beauvais to the city center of Paris, but it will cost you a pretty centime (upwards of 185€). There are some things to keep in mind when getting a taxi at the airport:

  • there are designated taxi stands where you can find licensed taxis. Follow signs within the airport to locate these stands.
  • use only licensed taxis.
  • taxi fares from the airport to central Paris are fixed.
  • there are additional charges for extra luggage (beyond one piece per passenger) and for certain hours (late night or early morning).
  • most taxis accept major credit cards, but it’s advisable to confirm with the driver before starting the journey, especially if you prefer paying by card.

We’ll break down each airport and the services they offer for taxis, how to find them, and how to get a taxi to where you need to go.

Something you need to be aware of right away is that you should only take a taxi from the official taxi stands at the airport. If anyone approaches you after getting your luggage about a taxi, this is not an official taxi. This is a scam and unfortunately there are many in Paris.

Roissy - Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

If you are coming into Paris on an international flight, you will most likely fly into Roissy – Charles de Gaulle airport. Once you’ve passed through customs and picked up your luggage, you’ll be good to go ! The taxi bays at CDG are located at the following terminals:

  • Terminal 1, exit 24 on the arrivals level
  • Terminal 2A, exit 6
  • Terminal 2B, arrivals level
  • Terminal 2C, exit 14
  • Terminal 2D, exit 7
  • Terminal 2E, gate 10 on the arrivals level
  • Terminal 2F, gate 11 on the arrivals level
  • Terminal 2G, blue gate
  • Terminal 3, exit of the arrivals hall

You’ll want to look for the sings indicating where the taxi bay is located. If ever you can’t find it or are lost (because sometimes the signage is not very clear), there are plenty of employees walking around to help you.

Depending on where you are going in Paris, will depend on the price of the ride. In Paris, the fares of taxis are regulated by the government. The following are the prices for 2024 for taxi fares from CGD to Paris Left Bank (rive gauche) and Right Bank (rive droite):

  • 56 € between Paris CGD airport and Paris Right Bank (rive droite).
  • 65 € between Paris CDG airport and Paris Left Bank (rive gauche).

Do you need to book a taxi in advance ? We’ve never had an issue waiting for an extended period of time for a taxi in the taxi bay, the most is possibly 5 minutes. The team working the taxi bay is fast and efficient, and there is alway a handful of taxis waiting. You are more than welcome to book a taxi in advance if that will make you feel at ease. I recommend the G7 taxis as you can do everything on the application. The service is always good and the drivers always friendly. The G7 is my preferred way to get around if needed.

Orly Airport

If you happen to fly into Orly airport, you’ll want to abide the same rules when looking for a taxi as you would at CDG:
