Paris Airport Taxi: CDG & Orly Fares

The first time I took a taxi from Charles de Gaulle into Paris, I remember being relieved that I didn’t have to think about the price, one flat rate, no surprises, no watching a meter climb while stuck on the périph. That’s still the biggest reason I recommend taxis to friends landing in Paris for the first time: you know the cost before you get in the car.
This guide covers everything you need to know about taking an official taxi from Paris’s two main airports: Roissy–Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly, including exactly where to find the taxi stands, what you’ll pay, and how to avoid the scams that target tired travelers fresh off a long flight.
Find the Official Taxi Stand, Not a “Helpful” Stranger
This is the single most important rule: only get into a taxi at an official taxi stand (station de taxis). If someone approaches you inside the terminal or at baggage claim offering you a taxi, it is not a licensed taxi, it’s a scam, and unfortunately a common one at both CDG and Orly.
- Official taxi stands are outside the terminal, clearly signed, and staffed with a queue system.
- A licensed taxi has a rooftop light showing “TAXI PARISIEN” and the name of its home commune, plus a visible fare card inside the vehicle.
- If you can’t find the stand, airport staff in the arrivals area can point you to it.

Taxis at Roissy–Charles de Gaulle (CDG)
If you are coming into Paris on an international flight, you will most likely fly into Roissy – Charles de Gaulle airport. Once you’ve passed through customs and picked up your luggage, you’ll be good to go ! The taxi bays at CDG are located at the following terminals:
- Terminal 1, exit 24 on the arrivals level
- Terminal 2A, exit 6
- Terminal 2B, arrivals level
- Terminal 2C, exit 14
- Terminal 2D, exit 7
- Terminal 2E, gate 10 on the arrivals level
- Terminal 2F, gate 11 on the arrivals level
- Terminal 2G, blue gate
- Terminal 3, exit of the arrivals hall
Allow 35 to 60 minutes for the ride into central Paris, depending on traffic.
You’ll want to look for the sings indicating where the taxi bay is located, these will be large round blue stickers that say TAXI. If you follow them, the literally lead you to the taxi bay.If ever you can’t find it or are lost (because sometimes the signage is not very clear), there are plenty of employees walking around to help you.
CDG to Paris: fixed fares
Taxi fares between CDG and central Paris are set by forfait (flat rate), fixed by préfecture order rather than by meter:
- CDG ↔ Paris Rive Droite (right bank): €56
- CDG ↔ Paris Rive Gauche (left bank): €65

The flat rate applies to direct rides only, if you ask for a stop along the way, the driver switches to the meter and the flat rate no longer applies.
Taxis at Orly Airport
Same rules apply at Orly as at CDG: official stands only, licensed taxis only, and a fixed fare into central Paris. Orly is closer to the city than CDG, so the ride is shorter, typically 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.
- Orly 1–2 — gate 14a
- Orly 3 — gate 32a
- Orly 4 — gate 48a

What Else to Know About Paris Taxi Fares
- Booking surcharge: a small additional fee applies if you book ahead or request immediate pickup rather than joining the queue at the stand.
- Extra passengers: a per-person surcharge applies starting with the 5th passenger.
- Luggage: one piece per passenger is included; ask about extra-luggage surcharges if you’re traveling heavy.
- Payment: most taxis accept major credit cards, but confirm with the driver before you set off, especially if a card is your only payment method.

Taxi or Train? A Quick Word
